Activities for a Cottage Break

Wouldn't it be nice to plan your holiday around exactly what you want to do? You can. If you like to walk through secluded glens, then you can do just that! Or if you prefer to sit by a pool all day, then do so by all means!

It's your holiday and you should enjoy yourself. The difficult part in holiday planning is deciding what you want to do during this vacation. Once you've decided, it's easy to find a cottage that you can stay at to indulge in your hobby.  Here are some ideas to get you going!

A boating holiday

Cottages are beautiful. There's no doubt about it. When you have a cottage that faces a lake, then 'beautiful' takes on a deeper meaning. In UK, you will find numerous cottages that have lakes nearby. The advantage? You can enjoy your waterskiing or fishingyou're your map takes you to Wales then stay at BrynGwynt, Barmouth. This cottage is very stylish and has a fantastic view of Cardigan Bay. In some places you may need a fishing license. Just rent a boat out and get your prized catch. Don't forget to capture it all on camera as this cottage break is one that you won't want to forget. If you're looking for a quiet lake, try the South West of England at Willowfield Lake in Braunton. The lake here is large and is a popular fishing spot.

Laze about on the beach

Nobody can fault a couple or a family for wanting to spend a week or two at the beach. Sun, sand and surf are great attractions for city-dwellers. Finding the right cottage is the only issue. Pick a cottage that's close to the beach. You can then enjoy sunrises and sunsets. Participate in beach activities and throw your own party at night. Apart from a nice tan, it also offers you privacy and a cool coastal breeze.

A walk in the woods

There's nothing compared to a quiet walk in the woodland or through a meadow filled with wild flowers. To be one with nature is a gift only some get to enjoy. This could be your opportunity to do so. There are several cottages in UK that are located near wooded areas. The Lynch Farm in West Milton offers excellent accommodation and can be found in the South of England. Larger groups of seven or more are welcome and so are couples. The layout is superb so privacy is maintained even when fully booked. From the cottage you can head out for nature walks or just get to know the other guests.

Try multi-stays

If you can't decide on what to do while on your cottage break, then try different locations. Stay at one cottage and indulge in the activities around and then move on to another location. That way you can experiment with what you want to do. It helps if you have about two or three weeks to your disposal. If one of your cottage-stays happen to be in Scotland then head for Westerings in Lochgoilhead. You will love the ambience it offers. With golf courses nearby you'll be busy but don't forget to go on one of those historical tours!
