Archway Cottage
This attractive conversion of a former steading with its lovely courtyard entrance and sweeping views across the Kyles of Sutherland offers an ideal base from which to explore an area that is both beautiful and off the beaten track. Warm and comfortably furnished it adjoins another cottage only 2 miles from the famous Falls of Shin, where salmon can be seen leaping and Harrods of the North have a shop and restaurant serving the delicious local produce.
All around dramatic mountain scenery affords glorious hill and forest walking and the fishing is superb. The coastline offers wonderful opportunities for bird watching and Dornoch (15 miles away) boasts great beaches, a 13th century cathedral and a championship golf course whilst a little further up the coast Dunrobin Castle is also well worth a visit. Shops in Bonar Bridge are 6 miles away and a pub serving food is within 2½ miles.
Our Opinion of Archway Cottage
First impressions of this cottage are certainly impressive and the inside does not disappoint. This lovingly converted steading is spacious and modern and well equipped for self catering. The location is hard to beat with the famous Falls of Shin just 2 miles away. The dramatic mountains around the cottage are ideal for outdoor activities and afford the property gorgeous views. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday base and plenty of activities locally.
