On the Machars peninsula which stretches 20 miles south of Newton Stewart visitors can explore picturesque harbours at Garlieston and Isle of Whithorn as well as sampling the local catch at a seafood restaurant. Known as Scotland's Book Town Wigtown (7 miles) boasts about 18 bookshops, arts crafts and coffee shops and a famous book festival in September. A shop and pub are within 1 mile.

We love this cluster of traditional style cottages which all have lovely countryside views from the elevated position. Ideal for those seeking an active holiday the cottage are surrounded by hills and valleys and offer excellent mountain biking, walking and climbing. Nature lovers will also love this area and there is an RSPB reserve just 4 miles away.
