Bassenthwaite Lake Derwentwater by Keswick treetop adventure courses in Whinlatter's forest and the cathedral and castle in the Border city of Carlisle are all within about a half hour's drive. A pub serving food and post office are about 500 yards Greystoke village shop is 4 miles and more extensive shopping cinema and a leisure centre with climbing wall are found in the market town of Penrith (6 miles).
