Abbey Cottages
In the heart of one of the most beautiful valleys in Wales these stone cottages stand alongside the ruins of 12th century Talley Abbey and are set in 30 acres of unspoilt pastureland. This is a haven for wildlife – red kites buzzards and other rare bird species are often seen and an otters' hide belonging to the RSPB is tucked away in the grounds. Two lakes one of which can be fished by arrangement add to the beauty of this lovely corner of Wales.
Each cottage is beamed throughout and all retain a host of original features. Wood burning stoves, open fireplaces and some antique furnishings are complimented by modern day facilities - all combining perfectly to provide spacious well equipped and comfortable accommodation. Abbey Cottages are ideally situated for exploring the many delights of the area – the Dolaucothi goldmines Dan-Yr-Ogof caves the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and Gwili Steam Railway Park are all within easy reach. Llandeilo (7 miles away) offers a choice of shops restaurants and inns. There is also a pub 3 miles away at Llansawel.
Our Opinion of Abbey Cottages
We think that Abbey Cottages are particularly well suited to those looking to explore this wonderful region. With a very peaceful setting the cottages are ideal for nature lovers, especially those with an interest in Birds of Prey. Outdoor activities are plentiful in the area and include fishing and cycling. We highly recommend Abbey View Cottages to those looking for comfort and style as each cottage has been well designed and features a log fire as well as a fully equipped kitchen. Overall these cottages provide a high standard of accommodation in a stunning location.
